Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
I handed Mark his lines for the play, so he could start rehearsing for the Christmas program. He skimmed the page and looked up and said, "No disrespect Ms. April, but this play looks boring". A little offended, I retorted "What do you mean it looks boring"?
Matthew 25:21 NIV - “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
Housesitting! Seemed easy enough. I’d just sit around, watch TV, eat snacks and make sure nothing gets broken. I assured my aunt and uncle that I’d take care of their home while they traveled for a few days. There was some kind of emergency and they had to leave as soon as possible. When I arrived with my small overnight bag, they barely had a chance to finish their dinner before rushing out the door. This was it, my chance to show how responsible I was.
Matthew 24:36 NIV - “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
Although sweat spotted my forehead, I was equally nervous and confident. I made it through nine of the 10 rounds in the city-wide spelling bee and was up against 3 other spellers, vying for a spot in the final round to become the city’s 8th grade spelling bee champion. I stepped to the mic as the judges and the audience seemed to stare right through me. I tried to look for a familiar face in the audience, but couldn’t find one.
Ephesians 5:25 - “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”
"Bria, will you marry me?" By the time these words were actually spoken, there wasn't a dry eye in the church. Demarcus Addington, so young and filled with love, professed his undying love and commitment to our own Bria Bradley, and proposed marriage before their families, friends and church congregation. What made this particular proposal so beautiful was the way Demarcus connected their love for each other with their love for Christ. Both young, powerful, up-and-coming ministers of the Gospel decided that they would soon marry and continue their ministry strongly united as one.
