Genesis 1:2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the waters. 

I was so excited about moving into my very first apartment. Coming out of a very rough situation, I was looking forward to having a fresh start. I stood in the middle of the empty, carpeted living room. My eyes traced the surface of the bare white walls. I had nothing to name, except the clothes on my back and my peace of mind. I was happy, but I knew my apartment couldn’t stay empty. 

My mother told me to go to Royal Furniture downtown on Main Street and a sales associate would help me. The sales associate was very sweet and helped me pick out furniture that would soon turn my apartment into my home. I was a little nervous after I selected the items, because it was time to talk about payment arrangements. We walked into her cubicle area, she typed up a few forms and handed them to me to sign. Confused, I asked if we could talk about payment arrangements first. Equally confused, she responded, “Didn’t you know? Your mother is taking care of this! She just has to say the word on the final total and you’re good to go!” I was stunned and was immediately moved to tears! My mother had already moved on my behalf.

Rev. Jackson preached Sunday about the mind blowing process of God’s creation of the Heavens and the Earth. He spoke about the great detail and scientific aspects of how God created everything. What is amazing to me, when we look back at Genesis 1:2, scripture tells us that before God created anything, before He spoke life and creation, He first MOVED! The Spirit of God was already moving in the situation. In the same way that all my earthly mother had to do was “say the word” and everything was confirmed, our Heavenly Father only had to speak and creation obeyed.

You may be in a place in your life that makes it seem like God is far away. Remember, you are a part of God’s creation, so He is already moving on your behalf. God is setting the stage to speak whatever you need into existence: restoration, peace of mind, love, prosperity, forgiveness, revived marriage, mended friendships or whatever your need may be. He has already moved over the waters of your situation, and since the earth is His and the fullness thereof, anything that He speaks to, HAS to obey! So allow your heart to trust God. Be patient and remember that the God of creation is on your side and ready to speak over your life! 

Heavenly Father, we stand in awe of your amazing creation and we believe in Your power to speak any and everything into existence. Thank you for making me a special part of your creation. Help me to trust in You and to wait for You to “Say the Word”! In Your precious son Jesus’ name, Amen!
