Matthew 4:4 - “Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"
After a long day of preaching plenaries and breakout sessions, we were happy to find a restaurant directly across the street from where we were staying. We opted to take our order to-go so we could have time to rest. I ordered this amazing creole dish and selected a slice of chocolate cake for dessert. As the server brought our “bagged and ready to go” order, I requested a piece of baguette, although I was being urged to “hurry up”. The server grabbed another container, placed a half baguette in it, and placed it in the bag with my entrée and dessert. I was a happy camper.
Philippians 2:3 (NIV) - "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves …"
I had the honor of being 1 of 4 Faith Leaders that attended the bi-annual “Convocation of Black Pastors” in Atlanta, GA this week. I was so thankful to be surrounded by people that share the same love of the Gospel, yet also the same struggles within their ministries. As dynamic speaker after dynamic speaker presented their messages of “A Fresh Vision”, the Spirit of God was high and ever-present. Then, in crept Satan.
2 Corinthians 5:17 - “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”
It’s been nearly 8 years since I first braved the “Big Chop”. In the natural hair world, the Big Chop is when a person cuts off their permed/relaxed hair, in order to regrow their hair in its natural texture. My hair had been relaxed so long, I had no idea what my natural texture would look like.
Proverbs 19:21 - " Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails."
As we prepare to close out the 2016 year, many people are all too welcoming for the 2017 year to roll in. I have heard it said many times that 2016 was one of the worst years experienced and people are so over it. We've lost some great influential people, whether personally or globally. We watched as America imploded during one of the most contentious elections in our history.
